Alright, so when I was 22 as a graduate student, I got mistaken to be 12 during multiple classroom observations (for those of you who do not know, I am a school psychologist). That's right. 12. As in, 7th grade. Well, fine. I was in college, I'm sure I looked a bit young. I wasn't a qualified professional. No problem. (It's a really funny story though if you want to know sometime).
Now I've graduated, put on a little more weight (like maybe 10lbs), been practicing as an intern for a year at the high school, haven't had too many problems (being mistaken as a high schooler isn't as ego-damaging). So I'm thinking, I must look older. Well, a couple days ago I was signing in for a meeting and asked this woman where the meeting was. She asked if I was supposed to be there. I said yes. She asked who I was. I said "the school psychologist." I continue to sign in and she whispers to another lady saying "she can't be the psychologist, she is too young." To which, I turn and tell her that I am 25. To which she says "you look 15" and goes on and on about it. Great. So, 15. That's better than 12, but come on people! I have 7 years of post-high school education!!! That is a 10 year difference! 10-Y-E-A-R-S!
Fine, maybe 20 years from now I will like this. But when you are working in a field with people who are between the ages of 30-55, it does NOT work in your favor to look 15. So check out my poll and let me know your experiences or how you think people can look older.

Thanks!
